Our mission
Protecting the rights and fostering the development of women, girls, children, and youth in Georgia, regardless of their political, social, ethnic, sexual, and religious identity and orientation; promoting gender equality and gender education; reducing poverty and increasing economic well-being in the country; combating domestic violence and gender-based violence; engaging target groups in peacebuilding, implementing peace initiatives, and contributing to the establishment of the rule of law; fighting against human trafficking; driving community development; enhancing access to formal and non-formal education; promoting reproductive health, maternal and child healthcare, and harm reduction; activating youth; and protecting the environment.
Organization's History
“Women and Development” was founded in 2004 in Georgia by local activists dedicated to protecting the rights of women, girls, children, and youth.
The establishment of the organization was driven by the shared views and interests of its initiative group members, the desire to leverage the potential of a non-governmental organization, and the founders’ extensive experience in defending the rights and promoting the development of women, girls, children, and youth.
